Best Friends
About the Organization
Private shelter Best Friends was founded in 2014. Located in Fasova, Kyiv region as part of zoo center "Kovcheg" ("Ark"). Approximately 1,000 animals live at the shelter, including dogs, cats, horses, goats, wolves, foxes, wild birds and raccoon dogs. Even prior to the war, the shelter was over capacity and needed support.
Since the war started the shelter has been heavily shelled, the kennel with puppies and teenage dogs burned down after being hit by a rocket, all young dogs died. The structural damage will require substantial repair after the war ends.
Shelter's owner and director Onoprienko Galina Fedorovna personally funded the creation of Best Friends and operates it entirely out of donations.
